High School Basketball, 1976. These seventeen black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using five separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. Note that the date provided (12-22-1976) does not appear to apply to all of these images.
The images in group "a" show a women's basketball game between the teams from North Thurston High School and an unknown high school. The game was played in the North Thurston gymnasium. All of these images (5a-24a) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "b" show a men's basketball game between the teams from Timberline High School and a team which is most likely from Shelton High School, as a sign reading "SHELTON HIGHCLIMBERS" is visible in the background in image 10b. The game was played at the Timberline High School gymnasium. This game was also likely played in 1978, as a sign reading "78 IS BLAZER... " (the rest is unreadable) is visible in several of the images. All of these images (8b-17b and 18b-28b) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "c" show a women's basketball game between the teams from North Thurston High School and an unknown high school. The game was played in the North Thurston High School gymnasium. All of these images (42c-44c and 1c-16c) show the game in-progress.
The images in group "d" show a women's basketball game between Timberline and Hoquiam High Schools. The game was played at the Timberline High School gymnasium. All of these images (22d-41d) show the game in progress.
