Football, 1973. These twenty black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using five separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show five different young men in football uniforms posing for photos. It is not clear which team they are members of, as their uniforms have no text on them. The contact prints which correspond to these negatives are labeled "Saint Martin's," but it is unclear if this is meant to reference Saint Martin's College or Saint Martin's High School. All of these images were captured in a large, open, field which is not lined.
The images in group "b" show players for both the Tumwater and Timberline High School football teams posing for portrait-style photos and action shots.
The images in group "c" show Tumwater High School football players and coaches posing for photos.
The images in group "d" show one Timberline High School football player and four adult men, presumably coaches, posing for photos.
The images in group "e" show a North Thurston High School football player posing for photos. His jersey number is 13.Made/Created
