Description

These photos were taken for the Lacey Leader Newspaper. This set of 2 Contact strips showcases the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Lacey Museum. According to Ken Balsley's personal journal entries related to the opening of the museum, he wrote that the museum was dedicated Sunday, October 26, 1980. That dedication was possibly this ribbon cutting ceremony. Frame 7a-8 Two figures are standing center-frame in front of the doorway to the Lacey museum. Ken Balsley appears to be on the left and an unidentified woman is on the right. They are both holding a portrait of George Washington. Frame 8a-9 shows four figures standing on the porch of the Lacey museum. Ken Balsley has given the portrait to the unidentified woman and Karen Fraser appears to be standing in between them. There is an unidentified man standing on the very left of the frame. Ken Balsley is speaking into a microphone and gesturing toward Karen Fraser. Frame 9a-10 the back of Karen Fraser, she is unlocking the front door of the museum. Frame 10a-11 Karen Fraser and Ken Balsley are standing side by side. Karen is on the left Ken is on the Right. Karen is preparing to cut the ribbon to the museums front door with a pair of scissors. Frame 11a-12 is similar to the last frame but Karen is looking at the camera and the ribbon is falling from being cut. Frame 36a-39 are three nearly identical photos of a bearded man standing in front of a hot tub. The room he is standing in has wood paneling and there is a window behind him.
