Description

These 4 contact print strips show a children's 4-H club visit to the Panorama Retirement Community. There are Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree in many of the photos. The three main activities featured in these photos are a children's choir singing for Panorama residents, children handing out baked goods to Panorama residents, and children decorating a Christmas tree for the Panorama residents. Frame 15 3 children's faces can be seen from a group of children. They are decorating a Christmas tree, their arms stretching to decorate high on the tree. An elderly woman can be seen in the background of the right of the frame. Frame 16 is similar to frame 15 but at an angle to the right of frame 16. Only one child's face can be seen mid frame and the woman cannot be seen in the background. Frame 17, a group of 7 children are all standing in a circle around a Christmas tree. Only two of the children are actively decorating the tree. There is a piano to the left of the children with a statue of a bird sitting on it. Frame 18, two girls are seen in center frame, their right arms outstretched, decorating a Christmas tree. Directly behind them is a framed painting of chrysanthemums. To their left you can see the end of a keyboard of the piano, a lamp, and the bird statue. Frame 19 a boy (left) and a girl (right) are decorating a Christmas tree (left). The boy has his arms upstretched reaching towards the top of the tree. The girl is wearing a patterned sweater and looking down, her face obscured by her hair. Frame 20-22 are all nearly identical frames (the same shot bracketed for proper exposure) 13 figures in all, 10 children and 3 elderly women are sitting in the center of the group. The 6 children in the front of the photo are all kneeling on the ground with their hands in their laps. One child is standing to the left of the 3 sitting women, and three girls are standing in the back right part of the frame against a wall. To the left of the frame is a Christmas tree. Frame 20 looks to be a double exposure (there is a ghost image of a piece of furniture on the right). A girl (right) is holding out a paper bag to an elderly woman (left). The elderly woman is sitting in a wheelchair with her legs upright and covered with a quilt. She is wearing glasses and holding a cookie. To the right of the child is a hand holding a tray of baked goods. In the middle background is an elderly woman wearing glasses, facing right. The room is decorated with Christmas garlands. Frame 38, 6 elderly people are sitting as an audience, most of them in wheelchairs. Two young, long haired boys are offering trays of cookies to the sitting residents. Several adults can be seen frame right with their faces obscured. One of them has her hands on one of the boy's shoulders and is wearing a holiday patterned sweater. A bookshelf, potted plants and garlands can be seen in the background. Frame 39, a room full of people, many of them are elderly or middle aged. In the foreground a young girl is offering a tray of cinnamon rolls to a man in a wheelchair (near foreground) and a man wearing a dark suit and glasses (left). The girl is looking down at the tray. In the back of the room on the wall is a large black cross. Garlands are decorating drawn curtains in the back of the room. A hinge and door jamb can be seen on the bottom right of the frame. Frame 40, 10 children are standing in a line singing. To their left are 4 elderly people sitting as an audience. Behind them is a Christmas tree. To the right of the children is a large open door with a Christmas stocking hanging from it. The door is covered in signs such as "Activity director Bev Thomas", "retired senior volunteers at work" and Occupational Therapy". Frame 41, the foreground has the backs of two, sitting, elderly women. In the middle of the frame are the 10 singing children from frame 40. The third child from the right is looking to the left and has an American flag behind him. To the far right, in the background, is an elderly woman sitting in a wheelchair. Frame 42, (right) an audience of 14 elderly people are sitting and watching the 4-H children singers (left). In the left foreground is a woman playing the piano. The room's curtains are drawn and the right wall has a large white cross. Frame 43, the back of an elderly woman sitting in a wheelchair can be seen as the main figure in the right foreground. Behind her is a bookshelf. To her left are an audience of elderly people, many of them sitting in wheelchairs. A white cross is seen on the wall in the left of the frame. Frame 44, two elderly women are sitting center frame the woman on the left has her hand raised and seems to be holding something. She is wearing glasses, a dark colored cardigan, and has short hair. The woman on the right has short curly hair, large facial features and is wearing leather moccasins. Frame 1 The women from frame 44 are on the left of the frame and are now smiling. Two girls are standing on the right of the frame, one is wearing a patterned, short sleeved sweater, the other is wearing a light colored sweater vest. The girl wearing the patterned sweater is holding a Christmas ornament and smiling. The two girls are facing the elderly women.
