Written by James Fenimore Cooper, "The Last of the Mohicans" is a historical fiction set in the New York wilds during the French-Indian War (aka The Seven Years War). This publication is 372 pages and includes several color illustrations by N.C. Wyeth.
On the inside of the front cover is stamped in black ink, "Lacey Elementary School Library Lacey, Washington".
On the title page in the space between the illustrator's name and the publishers is stamped in black ink "Cop. 1" and written just below that in black ink is "F" over "Co". Below the publishing city at the bottom center of the page is stamped in purple ink "Lacey Elementary School Library North Thurston School Dist. #3 Lacey, Washington", although it is fairly faded toward the end. Stuck parallel with the spine crease near the bottom left of the page is a white piece of paper (possibly glued) with "13751" typed in black ink.
On the acknowledgments page at the top center is stamped in blue ink "Lacey Elementary School Library North Thurston School Dist. #3 Lacey, Washington". Along the spine crease in the bottom left corner in black ink is written "Col 17.04 12/87 WM".
On the inside of the back cover is stamped in black ink "Lacey Elementary School Library Lacey, Washington".
9.25" x 7.25" x 2". Hard cover. The covers and spine are a woven blue fabric. The front cover has the title "The Last of the Mohicans" impressed with gold ink. The title is framed by a gold impressed line on all sides creating a rectangle. On the top of the rectangle are four stylized markings similar in design to Fleur-de-lis. Just under the bottom line are three small diamonds also impressed in gold ink.
The spine also has the title impressed in gold ink "The Last of the Mohicans" framed on top and bottom by gold ink impressed lines, with the top line having five of the Fleur-de-lis like ornamentations sprouting from the top. Below the bottom line is the author's name "James Fenimore Cooper" followed by three small diamonds and below that "Illustrated by N.C. Wyeth", all impressed with gold ink. At the bottom of the spine again impressed with gold ink is "Scribners" above a solid line followed by a line of connecting diamonds.
The back cover only has the ISBN "0-684-18711-6" impressed in gold ink in the bottom right corner.Lexicon
