Part of The Bedtime Story-Book collection by Thornton W. Burgess "The Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrel" was originally published in 1915 by the publishers Little, Brown and Company. This copy was published in 1943 by the publishers Grosset & Dunplap. 109 pages broken down into 23 chapters with 14 black and white illustrations by Harrison Cady. On the inside of the front cover in the top right corner stamped in very faded black ink is "Lacey Elementary School Library North Thurston School Dist. #3 Lacey, Washington". On the Title page at the bottom center stamped in black ink is "Lacey Elementary School Library North Thurston School Dist. #3 Lacey, Washington". there is a white strip of paper adhered to page parallel to the spine crease. Typed on the paper in black ink is "7413". On page 51 in the bottom right corner is stamped in very faded black ink "Lacey Elementary School Library North Thurston School Dist. #3 Lacey, Washington". On page 190 just above the page number stamped in blue ink is "1274 1126 34" and just below that written in pencil is "70". On the page opposite the back cover at the top of the page written in black ink is the name "Mark" written in a cursive style and scribbled over with black ink. To the right of that written in black ink is "Mark" written with standard letters. The bottom of the letters of the second "Mark" are obscured by a manilla card sleeve which has been adhered to the page. A white card has been adhered inside the sleeve pocket. The front of the envelope pocket has on it typed in black ink "702" above "Burgess Chatterer, the Red Squirrel" and to the right of that "F" over "Bu". at the top right corner of the pocket face stamped in black ink is "Nov 27, '73". The card has a grid printed on it in black ink with "Due Date" at the top. Stamped on the card are dates ranging from "Sep 20 '85" to "May 3 '88" in purple, turquoise, and red ink. Written over the dates in pencil are the numbers 9, 12, 11, 19, 6, 20, and 16. On the inside of the back cover in the top right corner stamped in very faded black ink is "Lacey Elementary School Library North Thurston School Dist. #3 Lacey, Washington". Measuring 7.25" x 4.75" x 1" the book is bound in a bright red cover and spine. On the front cover centered at the top and stamped in black ink is "The Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrel." Below that is a picture stamped in black and light pink ink a depiction of a squirrel wearing a vest with a hollow tree to the right and a diamond cross hatch design in the background. Below the picture stamped in black ink is "Thornton W. Burgess". On the spine at the top stamped in black ink running perpendicular to the length of the spine is "The Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrel". Below that is a depiction of a squirrel head stamped in black and light pink ink. And just below that stamped in black ink is "Burgess". At the bottom of the spine is written on white ink "F" just above "Bu". The back cover is covered in a design of veining and cross-hatching in a slightly darker shade over the red that is the rest of the cover. Near the top right corner of the back cover is a small circle where the pattern does not cover. Inside the circle is "TT" with the second T raised slightly above the first.
