Hardbound in red with a paper wrap around cover. The majority of the cover is red with a blue stripe at the bottom with a thinner white strip seperating it from the red. The front cover has the title at the top and the author's name at the bottom in the blue section. There are three images, one of McLoughlin, one of a settler and native American engaging in fur trade, and one of settlers in a canoe.
The spine has the title and the last name of the author with the publisher name at the bottom in the blue section.
