Note: all writing in this book was done in pencil unless otherwise stated.
On the inside of the front cover is written "Hard and hearty Full of Glee Are the boys of the S. M. C." and "Look up use of War Elephants.". Someone has stuck a yellow post-it note to the inside of the front cover with the "Hard and Hearty" bit written in blue ink, though instead of Glee, the wrote Glue. Note, the accession record has Glee, not Glue. They also added to the bottom of the note that S.M.C stands for Saint Martin's College.
On the page opposite the front cover is written "156", "Edith Fleetwood 1912", "Leaf(?) Year", "Sparta, Thebes & Athens", "Name Author - History hap(?) - pages", "24" with a circle around it, and "Edith"
On page opposite the back cover is written "Maps", "Draw own map.", "2", "3 map from last", "take map on pp 272 & 573"
