Description

White T-shirt with a red neckline, printed on the front is a red heart with "I Love Lacey" in white cursive letters inside it. This T-shirt was owned and worn by Ken Balsley.

Context

In 1997, Matt Skinner, the owner of Tee’s Me in downtown Olympia started selling “Lacey Sucks” T-shirts after feeling inspired by someone wearing a “Bellevue Sucks” t-shirt in Seattle. Unsurprisingly, this sparked some backlash among Lacey’s residents, stirring up the long-standing rivalry between the two cities. After feeling guilty for making Laceyites feel so bad, he printed the new T-shirt with the message "I Love Lacey." The new T-shirts were distributed to the Lacey Chamber of Commerce’s board members, under the leadership of its president at that time, Jan Teague.
