A mixed set of photos from various events: A) There are 4 strips with 17 images taken on 12/11/74 (#2-8 and #12-21) showing the likely proprietor of Bob & Vi's Homestyle Candy making candy and serving customers and one showing a table of his wares; B) There is a set of 4 pictures (#37-41) showing a plaque presentation from NT Kiwanis President Peterson to a Mr. Canfield (who appears to have an FFA Vocational Faculty badge on his jacket; C) There is a set of 9 images (#4-12) showing three men at a table with a birthday cake and blowing out the candles--the person seated is behind a label saying "Mayor Bush", the prints show the date 12/11/74 and "Lacey Birthday Party" and one of three men appears to be NT Kiwanis President Peterson (see #B).
Finally, there are two strips containing 10 photos that are labeled on the back as being taken on 3/21/79 and showing "Fr. John Scott + newcomer Thelma Jackson". This label is inaccurate in three ways: A) only 5 of the 10 negatives (#28-32) and 7 of the 10 pictures (#26-32) are of Scott and Jackson; B) the remaining negatives (#18-22) and photos (#23-25) are of an unnamed police officer presenting either Sonics basketball cards or tickets to two boys who are seated on a car hood in a parking lot (a Goodyear sign can be seen in the background on one negative). The photos of Fr. John Scott and Thelma Jackson appear to have been taken at the bottom of the steps up to the St. Martin's entrance and include two other unnamed women.Context
A) Bob and Vi's candy store represents an early storefront in Lacey; B) The North Thurston Kiwanis are a long-standing service organization in the area; C) Mayor Bill Bush was the first Lacey mayor to serve an entire term (12/13/1973 through 1975) under the (then new) council-manager form of government--William Bush Park is named after him; D) Fr. John Scott was the President of St. martin's College from 1975-1980 and Thelma Jackson served as President of the North Thurston School Board for 5 terms and went on to be an Evergreen State College trustee.Made/Created
