Description

Two photos (frames #8 and #9) of the interior of The Tyee. Frame #8 shows an empty meeting/presentation area with a long (8-10 seat) front table and a speaker's podium (with "Tyee" on its front) and three circular tables, each seating up to 10-12. Frame #9 shows a more restaurant style room with two cooks, 4 wait staff and 4 or more patrons.

Context

The Tyee was founded in 1958 and expanded in 1960 to include a dining area; it served as an off-campus meeting location for legislators, staff and lobbyists. In 1970 a major fire shutdown most of the motel and, with the death of one of the owners, instigated a sale. In January 1972 the Tyee re-opened under new management. These photos were probably taken shortly after.
