Description

Gurley surveyor's pocket compass with case (.2) and staff (.3). Brass instrument is a round 1/2" thick disk with folding sights at the top and bottom to allow it to fit into a case. The sights have long thin slots with a very thin wire attached in the middle. Attached to the face at the east and south points are levels. "E", "W", and "S" are engraved on the face. A maker's mark is etched in place of the north letter. There is a cylindrical pipe on the bottom where it can attach to the staff.
