Compiled by Mrs. F. L. Gillette who spent 40 years as a practical housekeeper. Created at the urging of friends and family. Gillette chose recipes that were "invariably a success, and also one of the best of its kind." In addition to recipes it also includes sections on preparing food for the sick, table etiquette, and "Toilet Recipes and Items." Also includes an index.
10" x 7.5" x 2". A faded yellow cover spotted with grease stains. The corners are dented and frayed. The front cover has the title "White House Cook Book" in gray ink with decorations of plants interwoven with the letters. There is a circular shaped picture of the White House in the middle of the title with "White House" above, and "Cook Book" below. The spine has the title in gray ink and the author name just below the title. The title and author name are bordered above and below by two lines on the same color ink. At the bottom of the spine is the word "Illustrated". There is no decoration of the back cover.Lexicon
