Name/Title

Concrete boat anchor

Description

A small, concrete boat anchor with two metal wires embedded in the top through which one could tie a rope. It is rounded, with a large dent in one side, and some smaller dents in the other, as if it were cast into an already dented mold.

Context

During the 1920s and 30s, Lacey was known for its many lakeside resorts. Small boats were commonly used on the lakes, and could have had anchors such as this one.

Dimensions

Dimension Description

The anchor is rounded, but not perfectly round, as though it had been poured into a fairly dented paint can and left to set. The oval-shaped top of the anchor is 6-1/4 inches wide at its maximum, and 5-1/2 inches wide at the minimum. It is 7 inches tall. Embedded in the top of the anchor are two metal wires, set next to each other. They measure 1-1/2 inches at their tallest, and are 2.5 inches wide. The wires are nearly flush with each other on one side, but nearly 1/2 inch apart on the other. The measurements below are the 'maximums'; the tallest/widest measurements of the entire artifact.
