Description

An early photo of the Lacey Depot when it was still in operation. There are rail cars in the background on the left with signs saying "American Railway Express" and "Pacific" (probably Union Pacific). Four children can be seen near those rail cars--dressed in pre-1960s garb. On the other side of the depot is a large crowd of adults standing and sitting on the platform with a few on the second railway line serving the depot. Since rail service to the Lacey Depot ceased in 1933 this scene was clearly taken before that.

Context

The Lacey Depot was an early and vital transportation fixture in Lacey, Washington.
