Description

W. W. Fleetwood's thrashing machine and crew. Black and white 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" print is mounted on tan cardboard, which is very dirty and missing lower left corner. Large diagonal crack from left top to right bottom. Image features five teams of two horses hitched to a wooden thrashing (threshing) machine in the center. There is one man with a large mustache standing on top of the thrashing machine. Behind this, there is a wagon with a team of two horses hitched to it and two men in the wagon bed, one standing and one sitting/crouching. Behind the wagon is a very large pile of hay, on top of which are three men holding large poles (or possibly pitchforks). There are four men standing in front of the hay pile and to the right of that are two men standing on another piece of agricultural equipment. The one on the right is holding what might be some type of pipe. There is a large wooden barn on the right side of the photograph and in front of that are four men, one of which has a large bushy beard. All the men are wearing hats, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. There is an array of pine trees in the background. At the left in the background is a large pile of wood logs. On the reverse of the card is written in pencil on a short end: "W. W. Fleetwoods thrashing machine and crew". Diagonal crack can be seen from the back.
