Description

Thurston County Timber. Black and white negative probably created from a slide of a photo in "Olympia," a circa 1907 Olympia Chamber of Commerce promotional brochure or booklet. Image is of a stand of large pine trees, presumably in Thurston County. The image shows only the trunks and is a straight on shot. Negative is frame #29, fourth on a strip of five. Image has the title, "Thurston County Timber." Image is poor quality since it came from a book and it is overly dark. From the viewer's point of view, the frame number "29" is printed at the top and printed at the bottom is "[KODAK] SAFETY FILM 5060". "038" is written directly on the negative at the bottom. Image had to be flipped after scanning, so the image is backward on the negative, which also causes the negative marking to appear upside down. Original booklet belonged to Shanna Stevenson (in 1990). Marge Russell's name is written in ink on the front.
