Description

Logging With Oxen. Black and white negative probably created from a slide of a photo in "Olympia," a circa 1907 Olympia Chamber of Commerce promotional brochure or booklet. Image is of a team of eight oxen pulling a very large felled tree behind. They are walking along a wooden platform constructed from logs. There are two men standing at the right of the team and one on top of the log. There is a large forest of trees behind them, including one very large stump at the left side of the image. There are lots of branches on the ground. The top bits of letters can be seen along the bottom of image and a strip of another image can be seen on the left side. Negative is frame #34, fourth on a strip of five. Image has the title, "Logging With Oxen." Image is poor quality since it came from a book. From the viewer's point of view, the frame number "34" is printed at the top and printed at the top is "[KO]DAK TMX 5052". "037" is written directly on the negative at the bottom. Original booklet belonged to Shanna Stevenson (in 1990). Marge Russell's name is written in ink on the front.
