Description

Group of hop pickers in a hops field. Black and white negative probably created from a slide of a photo in "Olympia," a circa 1907 Olympia Chamber of Commerce promotional brochure or booklet. Image shows a group of twenty-five people standing in front of a crop of hops. They are pictured with hop plants, tools, and containers of hops. Group includes a baby, small child and what appear to be Asian, possibly Japanese and Native Americans among white people. Negative is frame #21, first on a strip of five. Image includes a title below, "Hop Picking" and a thin line frame around it. The edges of text can be seen at the bottom and right of the image. Image is poor quality since it came from a book. The frame number "21" is printed at the bottom and printed at the top is "[KODAK S]AFETY FILM 5060". "040" is written directly on the top of the negative. Original booklet belonged to Shanna Stevenson (in 1990). Marge Russell's name is written in ink on the front.
