Description

Logging in Lacey. Black and white negative made from an original 3 x 5 print probably from the George Elder photo album. Image features nine lumberjacks, four are sitting on felled logs and the remainder are standing. There is a large piled of felled trees and a steam donkey engine at the left with steam coming off the top. They are among a large stand of tall pine trees. One in the center is stripped bare of branches and has ropes tied around it at intervals with a longer rope hanging down. According to the negative card, the was on Saint Martin's property where Martin Way goes through it now. A note suggests that George Elder and Mr. Russell may be in the photograph. Negative is second on a strip of five images, frame number 12. Printed at the left center is frame number "12" and at the top "11A." "106" is handwritten directly onto the left edge of the negative. At the right is printed: "Kodak S[afety Fi]lm 5060."
