Description

Sandstone Quarry. Black and white negative created from a slide of a photo in "Olympia," a circa 1907 Olympia Chamber of Commerce promotional brochure or booklet. Pictured is an area with smooth tiered walls that is in process of having the sandstone removed. On the second tier is what appears to be a steam donkey engine. To the right of that are three barrels. Chunks of sandstone litter the floor of the pit. On the top level, foliage can be seen. Image is surrounded by a thin black line. Underneath, although cut off, is the title "Sandstone Quarry." Text can be seen just above this image. Negative is frame #15, fifth on a strip of five. The frame number "15" is printed at the top as well as "14A" at the top right. Printed at the bottom is "KODAK SAFETY FIL[M 5060]". "109" is handwritten directly onto the top of the negative. Original booklet belonged to Shanna Stevenson (in 1990). Marge Russell's name is written in ink on the front. The negative card suggests that this picture is in Tenino, but it is unclear where that information came from.
