Description

Richard Chamberlain on his brother David's bike at the Chamberlain House in 1962 on Christmas morning. Color image scanned from a slide. The photograph, taken by their dad Bob Chamberlain, was taken from the yard of 1740 Cedar (now Gemini) facing west. He is perched on top of the shiny new bicycle that David received for Christmas that morning. Richard is wearing dark pants and a light colored hoodie. Frost can be seen on the grass behind him. In the background houses on Yucca Street, across Ruddell Road, are visible. Donor David Chamberlain recalls that their father set up this photograph by putting Richard on the bicycle with the kickstand up but out of view to make it appear as though Richard was also riding, although he could not yet ride. This was a source of delight for Richard and amusement to the rest of the family.
