Description

Neighborhood Club anniversary party, about 1966. Color image scanned from a slide. The photograph, taken by donor's father, Bob Chamberlain, was taken in the backyard of 1740 Cedar (now Gemini). Pictured in the photo, clockwise from front left are Jeff Huber, David Brix, Becky Chamberlain, Sandra Huber, Ricky Brix and David Chamberlain. The children are sitting at a picnic table with a green tablecloth, eating chocolate cake on paper plates. The green lawn has a pink blanket laid out at left. A paper cup is in the yard in front of the picnic table. A plastic bag on the right. The yard is surrounded by a wooden fence, grown over with honeysuckle. A clothesline can be seen above. Behind the fenced yard, a plastic structure covers the neighbor's (Mr. Huber) boat. According to donor David Chamberlain, the kids in his neighborhood formed a club and existed for several years (c. 1964-1968) and provided auspices for many of their activities. David's mom let him host this party on the occasion of the club's anniversary and she prepared cake and other goodies for the kids to enjoy. The Hubers lived next door and the Brixes lived on Alder Street several doors up.
