Description

Ben Turner's house at Woodard Bay. Black and white negative made from an original 5 x 7 print mounted on a card. Image features what is likely a family portrait. A bearded Ben Turner is seated at left wearing a dark suit. He has just one leg. A woman sits in a chair to his right, possibly his wife, Oretta, wearing a light colored skirt and white blouse. Behind them is a woman. To the right is a young woman in white and a man in a dark suit. A dog is lying down at left. The wood frame house is behind them featuring a shallow porch with slender columns. Wood siding covers the house with white trim. There are 3 small wooden steps leading up the porch. A ladder leans against the side of the house and a second ladder continues onto the roof to the chimney. A large tree provides shade at left and another tree is to the right of the house. Negative is third on a strip of five images, frame number 8. Printed at the bottom is frame number "8" and to the left "7A." "112" is handwritten directly onto the bottom edge of the negative. At the top is printed: "Kodak Safety Fil[m 5060]".
