Description

MAD Festival, 1980. Black and white strips of 9 photographs (one strip containing five frames, and one strip containing four frames) originally created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. The strip containing frames 26-30: Frame 26 shows a small child with their hand on a llama. The llama has a harness on and is tied to what appears to be a fence. There is an older child that appears to be holding hands with the smaller child. Frame 27 shows a man bending over and in front of him is a small child wearing the man's jacket. The jacket appears to be a fireman's jacket. The man is wearing jeans and a white shirt. The boy is hardly visible under the jacket, as it drags the ground, only his head is visible and is mostly covered by the man. Frame 28 shows what appears to be two firemen working on an old fire truck. Frame 29 shows four firemen in uniforms running toward the old fire truck. Two men are standing closer to the camera and looking at the men running. There is also a row of folding chairs next to the two men and behind the firemen. Frame 30 shows four firemen in uniforms on the back of a fire truck and the truck appears to be driving away. In the strip containing frames 31-34: Frame 31 shows at least three people standing around barrels. The barrels appear to have been set in water, or close to the edge of water. The people appear to be filling buckets from the barrels and passing the buckets down. The person closest to the camera has dark brown hair and is only wearing shorts. The person opposite this person is wearing only shorts and has light colored hair. The buckets being passed among the people say "FIRE" on them. Frame 32 shows a group of children all watching something. The center of the photograph is a small light haired child with a light shirt on, capris, and sandals. Frame 33 appears to be the ladder on a fire truck that has been fully extended. There is a base at the top, where you can see someone standing in it and there is someone climbing up the ladder toward the base on top. Frame 34 shows two firemen kneeling on the ground. A fire hose is visible behind them. They appear to be holding down the hose and aiming the water in front of them.
