Description

Russell farm and shingle mill and employees, circa 1920. Black and white 8" x 10" photographic copy print, probably made from a negative. Picture is a wide view of the fam and mill on Chamber's Prairie. It appears to be taken on the same day as 1996-001-0007 and 1996-001-0008. There are eight men standing in front of a split rail fence and one sitting on the fence. Behind the fence is a two horse team pulling a wagon loaded with wooden shingles. The horses are dark colored. Frank Russell appears to be the person seated on top of the wagon and is holding the reins. Behind him is a black dog with floppy ears. The man standing at the left appears to be Thomas N. Russell. Fourth from the left appears to be Fred Russell, and third from the right Vern Skinner. Rhe rest are unknown. A small white outbuilding is at the left. A tall water tower and windmill atop wooden structured are in the center of the photo. A large wooden building with two smokestacks is behind them and appears to be the shingle mill. A number of tall pine trees can be seen in the background. Written on the back in pen: "1996-001 neg #1801" and printed numerous times on the back is "This Paper Manufactured by Kodak."
