North Thurston High School Band, unknown year. Four strips of black and white negatives produced for the Lacey Leader newspaper. One strip holds six images (images 1-6) and three strips holds five images each (images 7-11, 12-16, and 17-21). Image 21 is not physically numbered on the negative strip. These images show performances and practices of the North Thurston High School band, marching band, and choir. Image 1 depicts a locker room with musical instrument cases laying haphazardly on the floor. Image 2 shows the band on stage from behind and looking our over an audience. Image 3 shows a conductor surrounded by the band playing on stage. The audience surrounds the entire stage. Image shows the conductor at the far left conducting the band, which occupies the rest of the photo's frame. Image 5 appears to show the same scene as image 4, but from the opposite side of the room. Image 6 shows the band practicing with the conductor at the center. Image 7 shows the marching band in full uniform practicing in a wet parking lot. Image 8 shows the band setting up for a practice or performance in a large room with long tables, likely a lunch room. Image 9 shows the same scene as image 8, but from the opposite end of the room. The image is blurred. Image 10 shows the same shot as image 9, but is in-focus. Image 11 depicts the band, from behind, playing in a practice room with the conductor at center in the background. A timpani is at the far left of the frame. Image 12 also shows the band, from behind, playing the practice room with the conductor at center in the background. Two tuba players are in the immediate foreground. Image 13 shows a choir performing on-stage with the backs of the audience's heads in the foreground. Image 14 shows the band performing and the conductor standing on a raised platform. The image is blurred. Image 15 shows the same shot as image 14, but is not blurred. Image 16 shows the conductor at the right of the image conducting the band, and four band members facing away from the camera in the immediate foreground. Image 17 shows the conductor from behind conducting the band in a practice room. There is a young man in striped pants playing trumpet at the bottom right of the frame. Image 18 shows the heads of two young men facing away from the camera in the very close foreground, and other seated band members in the middleground and background. Image 19 shows a group of young people seated on the floor of a music classroom and using the seats of their chairs as writing surfaces. One female individual is standing near the left-hand edge of the frame. Image 20 shows a group of six children seated around a round table wearing headphones. Image 21 shows a group of students seated on the floor and in chairs in a music classroom while one individual at right plays a guitar.
Printed on the top edge of each of the strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM" in alternating order. Printed on the bottom edge of each of the strips is the numbering for the frames. The numbering on these strips consists of an arrow, the frame number, a space, another arrow, the same frame number, then the letter A. Frame 21 has no numbering accompanying it.Made/Created
