Description

Mary Russell, 1975. This black and white negative strip bearing six images was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images are numbered 14-19. Image 14 shows a woman (Mary Russell) from the chest up standing in front of a library bookshelf. She is wearing a name tag which reads "Mary Russell." Image 15 shows the same woman from the waist up again standing in front of library shelves. Image 16 shows the same woman from the shoulders up in front of a banner which reads "Live! Read!" Image 17 shows a man in profile holding a young female child. They are facing what appears to be a window or framed artwork. The child is reaching out and touching the window or piece of artwork. Image 18 shows the same scene, but here the man is reaching toward the child's hand. Image 19 again shows the same scene, but the child is again touching the window or artwork while the man is pointing at the window or artwork. Mary Russell was the Lacey Library's first librarian. She later became a Panorama City resident. Printed along one edge of the negative strip is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM" in alternation. Above image 15 is printed the letters G, K and C.
