Unidentified people, unknown dates. These fifteen black and white film strip negatives, bearing 58 images, were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. The large majority show one or more track and field events, but this group of negatives also include images of a boy displaying a fish, people playing foosball, a baseball game, an unknown outdoor event, downtown Olympia, and a several docked boats. Very few of these images are physically numbered on the negative strip itself. One strip of five images, hereafter referred to as strip A, shows young people engaging in a shotput competition. Image A1 shows a young man in Adidas shoes in mid-throw. Images A2 shows a young woman in a "T-Birds" jersey with a number 15 on it in mid-throw. Image A3 shows a young woman from behind preparing to throw. Image A4 shows the same young woman from image A3 about to release the shotput. Image A5 shows a young woman from behind with the number "686" on her jersey preparing to throw. One strip of six negatives, hereafter referred to as strip B, shows young people engaged in a shotput competition and a high jump competetition. Image B1 is almost identical to image A5. Image B2 shows the young woman from images A5 and B1 having just released the shotput. On the front of her jersey appears the text "Shorew...," likely for Shorewood High School. Image B3 shows a young man competing in a long jump competition, in mid jump, with stands in the background. Image B4 shows a different young man landing from a long jump attempt. Image B5 shows the young woman with the numbers "686" on her jerey from behind beginning a shotput throw. Image B6 shows the same young woman watching the shotput she has just thrown. The shotput is visible in flight in the image foreground. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip C, shows young people in track and field uniforms having a meeting, engaging in a high jump competition, and sitting or standing with an umbrella. Image C1 shows a group of approximately 20-25 young people in track and field uniforms standing in a circle and having a meeting. Image C2 shows a young man just about to go over the bar in a high jump competition. Image C3 shows a young man in a track and field uniform sitting in a sports field and holding an umbrella. Image C4 shows the same young man with the umbrella standing. Image C5 shows the same young man again standing, but here leaning slightly onto his left leg. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip D, shows young people engaging in a high jump competition and sitting down on the grass in a sports field. Image D1 shows a young man in a track and field jersey having just cleared the bar in a high jump attempt. Image D2 shows a young man in a t-shirt having just cleared the bar in a high jump attempt. Image D3 shows a young man in striped socks clearing the bar in a high jump attempt. Image D4 shows a young man with a double-stripe down the side of his shorts clearing the bar in a high jump attempt. Image D5 shows a standing young man handing something to two young man seated on the grass in a sports field. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip E, shows young women engaging in a high jump competition. Image E1 shows a young woman with a stripe down the side of her shorts clearing the bar in a high jump attempt. Image E2 shows a young woman wearing spiked cleats clearing the bar in a high jump attempt. Image E3 shows the young woman from image E2 walking off of the pad following a high jump attempt. Image E4 shows a young woman with a pony tail clearing the bar in a high jump attempt. Image E5 shows a young woman using a sideways form clearning the bar in a high jump attempt. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip F, shows young men engaging in a high jump competition. Image F1 shows a young man wearing glasses or goggles clearing the high jump bar. Image F2 shows a young man in a jersey which read "PT. TWS..." (likely for Port Townsend) clearning the high jump bar. Image F3 shows a young man with curly hair landing on the pad following a high jump attempt. Image F4 shows a young person clearing the high jump bar while approximately ten people watch from the foreground. Image F5 is very similar to F4, but some of the spectators have moved. A man in shorts on the far right of the photo in image F4 is not present in image F5. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip G, shows young women engaged in a high jump competition. Image G1 shows a young woman in a jersey which reads "PENINS..." (likely for Peninsula High School) clearing the high jump bar. Image G2 shows a young woman with her legs kicked very far forward clearing the high jump bar. Image G3 shows a young woman wearing Nike shoes clearing the high jump bar. Image G4 shows a young woman with untied hair and a stripe down the side of her shorts clearing the high jump bar. Image G5 shows a young woman with a "TO..." on her jersey clearing the high jump bar. One strip bearing four images, hereafter referred to as strip H, shows young people engaged in a high jump competition. Image H1 shows a young man in Adidad shows clearing the high jump bar. Image H2 shows a young man with a double stripe running down the side of his shorts clearing the high jump bar. Image H3 shows a young person with a stripe at the shoulder of their jersey clearning the high jump bar. Image H4 shows a young woman with a pony tail clearing the high jump bar. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip I, shows young people engaged in long jump and shotput competitions. Image I1 shows a young man in a jersey with "DAVIS" on it in mid- ong jump. Image I2 shows a young woman from behind standing as she prepares to throw a shotput. Image I3 shows the same woman, still from behind, leaning forward in preparation to throw a shotput. Image I4 shows the same young woman turning as she prepares to release the shotput. Image I5 shows a young woman in a jersey which reads "PENINSU..." (likely for Peninsula High School) just after releasing the shotput. One strip bearing five images, hereafter referred to as strip J, shows young men competing in long jump. Image J1 shows a young man wearing a jersey with a letter "V" overlaying a letter "W" in mid-long jump. Image J2 shows a young man in sunglasses wearing a jersey which reads "IRISH" in mid-long jump. Image J3 shows a young man with stripes at the bottom hem of his short in mid-long jump. Image J4 shows a young man with the number 22 on his jersey about to land following his long jump. Image J5 shows two people measuring following a long jump. There is also one person recording the jump measurements. One strip of five images, hereafter referred to as strip K, shows a male child displaying a salmon he has presumably caught. Imahe K1 shows the child holding the salmon from its gills with one hand. Image K2 shows the child still holding the salmon from the gills, but also using his other hand to help hold it. Image K3 shows the child again holding the salmon from its gills with one hand, but he is now smiling at the camera. Image K4 shows the child holding the salmon as an adult womany appears to put two fingers into the salmon's throat. Image K 5 shows the child holding the salmon horizontally with both hands. One strip bearing four images, hereafter referred to as strip L, shows three people playing foosball, downtown Olympia, and several boats tied up at a dock. Image L1 shows three people playing foosball. Visible outside a window is a sign which reads "paint" and another which reads "Jekel & Sons Bicy..." Image L2 shows the same scene as image L1, but from a different angle. The spectator of the foosball game is in profile. Image L3 shows downtown Olympia looking east from the corner of 4th Avenue West and Water Street Southwest. Image L4 shows several ships at dock. The largest of the boats has the word "RELIEF" painting on the side of its hull. One strip bearing two images, hereafter referred to as strip M, shows two men and a woman speaking and a group of young people in track-and-field uniforms. Image M1 shows one woman smiling as two men face away from the camera. Image M2 shows approximately ten young people in track-and-field uniforms standing or sitting at a sports field. One strip bearing one images, hereafter referred to as strip N, shows a young man standing on third base during a baseball game. One strip bearing one image, hereafter referred to as strip O, shows a large number of people in the distance on a sports field.
Printed on strips L and K in alternation is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM." Printed on strip O is "KODA..." and printed on strip N is "KODAK" and "...ILM 5063."Made/Created
