Angie Darling, 1975. These four black and white contact sheet strips was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. None of these images have physical numbers attached to them because the numbers have been cut off. For the purposes of this description, they have been assigned the numbers of their corresponding negatives (see 2007-012.F126N) Three of the strips holds five images each (images 41-1, 2-6, 7-11, and 12-14), and one strip holds three images (images 12-14). All of the strips show a female child (Angie Darling) sitting at a table with trophies and a baton, and the same child performing with the baton. Image 41 shows Angie sitting at the table and smiling toward the camera. All of her trophies are to Angie's left. Image 42 shows Angie again smiling, but the trophies are divided so that one group is to her right and one is to her left. Image 43 is very similar to image 42, but Angie is not smiling. Image 44 is very similar to image 42, but is zoomed in further. Image 1 is very similar to the three previous images, but Angie is grasping her baton, which is on the table. She is also looking down toward the table. Image 2 is very similar to image 1, but Angie is looking toward the camera. Image 3 shows Angie standing on a wooden deck or porch with her baton held out to her right. Image 4 shows Angie facing away from the camera. Image 5 shows Angie holding her baton to her left and close to her body. Image 6 shows Angie standing on her right foot and holding the baton low. Image 7 shows Angie facing toward the right-hand side of the picture, bending over slightly, and kicking out her left foot. Image 8 shows Angie lifting her left leg. The baton is in the air. Image 9 shows Angie leaning on her left leg with her left knee bent. Her arms are pointed downward. Image 10 shows Angie facing toward the right-hand side of the image with her head back and arms in the air. Image 11 shows Angie facing the left-hand side of the image with her head back and one arm in the air, the other pointing toward the ground. Image 12 shows Angie facing the camera with her baton held up in her right hand. Her left foot is lifted off the ground slightly. Image 13 shows Angie lifting her left leg high and reaching under it with her right hand. Image 14 shows Angie lifting her left leg even higher than in image 13 and holding her baton in her left hand.
Angie Darling was a state champion baton twirler. Ken Balsley noted that Dorian Smith write the sotry which these images went along with.Made/Created
