Christmas Island, unknown date. These two film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. One strip bears six images (images 44-5) and one strip bears four images (images 38-41). These images show a float or low-lying barge carrying an elaborate nativity scene.
Christmas Island was a large, Christmas-themed display which floated on a series of joined pontoons. The display was originally located on the property of a man named Leonard Huber who operated an event venue on the same property. The display was later purchased by a group of Olympia businessmen and moved to Capitol Lake in Olympia, Washington. After approximately ten years of seasonal display on Capitol Lake, the display moved to South Sound Center.Made/Created
