Softball, 1977. These six black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Two film rolls were used in the creation of these images, so the physical numbers 7-15 are duplicated on the strips. For the purposes of this description, the first images bearing these numbers will have a lower case "a" attached to them, and the second images bearing these numbers will have a lower case "b" attached to them. Four strips bear five images each (images 4-8a, 9a-13a, 14a-18, and 11b-15b), and two strips bear four images each (images 44-3 and 7b-10b). These images show a softball game and softball teams posing for team photos. Image 44 shows a child about to hit a softball off of a tee. The child is wearing a shirt with the number 22 on it. Image 1 shows a child holding his mitt out to catch a ball. A man is partially visible at the right of the frame. Image 2 shows a child holding a baseball bat and brushing their hair out of their eyes. They are standing next to a tee with a softball on it. Image 3 shows the child from image 2 swinging their bat and about to hit the ball off the tee. Image 4 shows a girl with a ponytail reaching forward with her left hand and holding a mitted left hand closer to her body, Image 5 shows a young person running the bases. Their right hand is held up in the air. Image 6 shows a girl pitching. The softball is visible toward the right of the frame. A man in a hat and jacket is visible at the right of the frame in the background. Image 7a shows the same girl again pitching, but here the ball is still in her hand. Image 8a shows a young person running. They are wearing a shirt which reads "GENE HINE AUTOS." Image 9a shows two children standing on two different bases. Both are wearing baseball gloves. A third young person is standing between the two. Image 10a is similar to image 9a, but the young person standing between the bases in image 9a is running toward the further of the two bases in image 10a. Image 11a shows a young person kneeling with their right knee near the ground and their right arm held out in front of them. This person is facing toward the right side of the frame. Image 12a shows a young person in a shirt which reads "GENE HINE AUTOS" reaching toward the camera with their mitt. Another young person is running away from the camera. Image 13a shows a young woman standing on first base an a second young person standing toward the left of the frame and wearing a baseball mitt. Image 14a shows people sitting on bleachers behind the batter's cage and watching the game. Image 15a shows a young woman reaching out to her right to catch a ball with both hands. A second young person is running toward first base. Image 16 shows ane young person running toward third base while the person on third base is bent over and reaching outside the frame to the right. Image 17 shows two young people looking toward eachother. Each of the two are wearing shirts which read "BAD NEWS BEARS." Image 18 shows a young person in a shirt with a number 2 on it having just pitched a softball. Image 7b shows 13 young people wearing John Deere hats and posing for a photo. There is also one woman standing behind the group of young people. Image 8b and 9b are nearly identical to image 7b. Image 10b shows 14 young people and two men posing for a photo. All of the young people are wearing shirts with a numbe 1 on the front. The man on the right is wearing glasses and speaking toward the young people. Image 11b is very similar to image 10b, but the man on the right is looking toward the camera and not wearing glasses. Image 12b is nearly identical to image 11b. Image 13b shows twelve young people and one man posing for a photo. The young person on thr right end of the middle row is wearing a catcher's vest. Image 14b and 15b are nearly identical to image 13b.Made/Created
