Description

North Turston Girls Basketball, 1977. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Two strips bear five images each (images 40-44 and 8-12) and two strips bear three images each (images 1-3 and 4-6). These images show individual, two-person, and team pictures of a female basketball team. Image 40 shows eleven young women and one older woman sitting on bleachers and posing for a photo. All of the young women are wearing basketball jerseys. Images 41-43 are nearly identical to image 40. Image 44 is very similar to the previous four images, but the image plane is oriented horizontally. Image 1 is almost identical to image 44. Image 2 shows a young woman in a basketball uniform with the number 44 on the front. She is holding a basketball in her right hand and smiling slightly. Image 3 is very similar to image 2, but the subject has a bigger smile on her face. Image 4 is almost identical to image 3. Image 5 is similar to the previous three imeages, but more of the young woman's fingers are visible holding the ball. Image 6 is nearly identical to image 5. Image 8 shows two young women holding basketballs and posing for a photo. The girl on the left has a 12 on her jersey, and the girl on the right has a 20 on her jersey. Both are smiling, but only the young woman on the right is showing teeth. Image 9 is very similar to image 8, but the young woman on the left is not smiling. Image 10 appears to show both girls laughing. Image 11 shows both girls laughing, and the girl on the left is tilting her head back and to the left slightly. Image 12 shows a similar image to the previous four, but again the young woman on the left is not smiling. Printed in alternation along one edge of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
