Basketball, unknown dates. These eleven black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Three different rolls of film were used in the creation of this series of images, so several of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated one or more times. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be divided into groups based on which film roll they came from, and each group will have a lower case letter (a-c) assigned to it in addition to its physical number (ex: 17a, 17b, 17c, etc.). The group designated as group "a" consists of four strips with the physical numbers 8-12, 13-17, 18-22 and 30-35. These images show a basketball game between the Saint Martin's College (now University) Saints and the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes. Image 8a shows two players from each team. The fully-visible jersey numbers in the image, from left to right, are 33, 50, and 40. Image 9a shows four members of the Saints and three members of the Lutes. A player for the Lutes with the jersey number 32 is jumping up for a rebound . Image 10a shows three members of the Saints and two members of the Lutes. One player from each team is going after a rebound at the left of the image frame. Image 11a shows four members of the Lutes and three members of the Saints. One player for the Saints with the number 5 visible on his jersey is jumping up to take a shot. Image 12a shows two members of each team. One player from the Saints is dribbling toward the hoop while a player from the Lutes defends. Image 13a shows number 32 from the Lutes and number 50 from the Saints jump up toward the hoop with several members of each team nearby. Image 14a shows one member of the Lutes and two members of the Saints scrambling for the ball near the ground while several other members of each team are nearby. Image 15a shows number 32 for the Saints having just taken a jump shot and number 12 for the Lutes jumping up in front of him. Image 16a shows number 40 for the Saints standing with the ball in his hands and knees bent. His torso is turned toward his right, and one member of the Saints and three members of the Lutes stand nearby. Image 17a shows number 50 for the Saints jumping up to either take a shot or get a rebound. Numbers 32 for both teams are also reaching toward the ball, but not jumping. Image 18a shows number 33 for the Lutes jumping up to take a shot and number 40 for the Saints jumps and tries to block his shot. Two Saints and two Lutes are nearby. Image 19a shows one member of each team going after a ball that is down by their feet. The Lutes wearing number 20 is at the right side of the image frame. Image 20a shows number 20 for the Saints at the center of the frame facing away from the camera and leaning forward. The ball is either in or right in front of his left hand. Image 21a shows one member of the Saints jumping up and looking over his right shoulder. Four members of the Lutes surrounding him. The player for the Lutes wearing number 20 is at the right side of the image frame. Image 22a shows one members of the Saints jumping up to take a shot while one member of the Lutes jumps to defend. Three Lutes are nearby, with their jersey numbers from left to right being 31, 12 and 11. These images show a basketball game between the Saint's Martin's College (now University) Saints and a team with Jerseys which say "Alaska" on the front. Image 29b shows number 32 for the Saints taking a jump shot. while a player for Alaska defends. The jersey numbers for 12 from Alaska and 40 for the Saints are visible in the image frame. Image 30b shows a player for the Saints going up for a jump shot. Number 50 from the Saints is at the left of the frame and number 50 from the Alaska team is on the right and facing away from the camera. Image 31b shows number 50 from the Saints going up for a jump shot and number 50 for the Alaska team defending. Image 32b shows number 40 for the Saints going up for a rebound or jump shot. Numbers 12 and 50 for the Alaska team are visible to the right of the shooter, as is number 40 for the Saints. Image 22c shows a jump-ball with several players in a circle around those going for the jump-ball. Image 23c shows a player in a shirt that says "I'm Italian" shooting the ball. Image 24c shows severalf the players reaching up in the air for the ball. Image 25c shows two young women struggling over the ball while a third reaches in toward the ball. The player on the right's socks say "Yelm" on them. Image 26c shows two players at the center of the image. Both are holding on to the ball. One player is facing away from the camera, and a second player with socks which read "Yelm" is facing toward the left side of the frame and saying or yelling something. Image 27c shows three players jumping up for the ball. Image 28c shows three players struggling for the ball. Image 29c shows one player at center facing away from the camera and reaching up toward the ball in the air. Two players toward the left of the frame have there arms held out to their sides. Image 30c shows two players reaching up toward the ball in the air. The player at the center of the image frame has a number 19 on the back of her jersey. Image 31c shows a player going up for a jump shot. Image 32c shows a player facing away from the camera and holding the ball up above her head. A player to her left is reaching out toward the ball. Image 33c shows one player jumping having just released a jump shot. A player to her right was jumping up to attempt to block the shot. The player with the number 19 jersey is to the left of these two players. Image 34c shows one layer holding the ball up over her head while several other players gather around her.
