Panorama City Resident Garden Plots, unknown dates. These nine black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. As many as five different rolls of film were used in the creation of these images, so several of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped by the roll they (at least appear to) come from. These groups will be designated with a lower-case letter in addition to their physical number (ex: 17a, 17b, 17c, etc.). The images in group "a" show older people attending to garden plots, as well as the flowers and other plants being grown in the plots. Image 3a shows several flowers with many small petals which radiate out from the center. Image 4a shows a flower with a single flower on a tall central column with other buds. This flower resembles a foxglove. Image 5a shows a man in a large area full of flowers and other plants. He is holding a large bucket out to his side in his right hand. Image 6a shows an empty wheelchair in a field of cornstalks. The image is oriented vertically. Image 7a is very similar to image 6a, but the image is oriented horizontally. Image 8a shows a man bending over to attend to some plants. Image 9a shows the same man attending to the same plants, but he is crouching down. Image 10a shows a close-up of a pair of hands which appears to be tying the vines of a plant to something. Image 11a shows a man picking some bean pods. Image 12a shows a close-up of the bean pods still on the vine. Image 13a shows a close-up of a cucumber growing on the ground. Image 14a shows a man in a plaid hat and glasses bending over and holding a bag in his left hand. He is reaching toward the ground with his right hand. Image 15a shows the man with the plaid hat and glasses bending over to pull some weeds or dead plants out of a flower bed. Image 16a shows a man in a trilby fedora and glasses attending to some corn plants. He is facing toward the left side of the frame. Image 17a is similar to 16a, but the man is facing toward the right side of the images frame. Image 18a shows approximately twelve onions still in the ground. Image 19a shows a garden plot with approximately 100 onions still in the ground. Image 20a shows a man in a fedora bending down and pulling an onion out of the ground. Image 21a shows a man in a wide-brimmed hat trimming some flowers with a pair of scissors. The hat is obscuring the top part of his face. Image 22a is similar to image 21a, but less of the man's face is obscured. The images in group "b" show a man in a classic fedora and shots of the Panorama City garden plots. Image 3b shows a sign which reads "Panorama City Resort Garden Plots" in the midst of a large patch of flowers and various crops. Image 4b shows a fence made of thin posts and netting in a large patch of flowers and crops. Image 5b shows a man in a classic fedora and glasses crouching down and holding a large onion. He is looking downward Image 6b is similar to image 5b, but the man is looking at the camera. The images in group "c" show a woman with glasses holding up a decorative potted plant. Image 10c shows the woman holding looking toward her right and speaking. Image 11c is very similar to 10c, but the woman's head is turned more toward her right. Image 12c shows the woman looking toward the camera. Image 13c is virtually identical to image 12c. The images in group "d" show a woman in glasses and a striped shirt posing in front a a hanging basket with flowers hanging down out of it. Image 12d shows the woman with her head cocked slightly to her left. Image 13d is virtually identical to image 12d. Image 14d shows the woman with her head cocked further to her left. Image 15d shows the woman with her head almost completely upright. The images in group "e" show a woman seated on a bench under a large pergola, and the same woman holding a plant and standing in a walkway under the pergola. Image 36e shows the woman seated on the bench under the pergola. She is smiling and/or laughing and looking toward the right of the camera. Image 37e is very similar to 36e, but the woman is no longer smiling and is looking directly at the camera. Image 38e shows the woman standing on a walkway under the pergola and holding a potted plant. She is looking toward the right side of the image frame. Image 39e shows the same woman, but from a slightly closer position. The woman is also looking toward the camera. Image 40e shows a similar image to the previous two, but the woman is smiling and looking at the camera. Image 41e is similar to 40e, but the woman is holding one of her hands out in the general direction of the camera.
Ken Balsley stated that some Lacey residents, including himself, sometimes refer to the Panorama City residents' garden as the "greenest acre in Lacey."
