Soccer, September 9, unknown year. These nine contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Two separate rolls of film were used in the creation of this image series, so many of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from. Each of these two groups will be assigned a lower-case letter ("a" and "b") to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 17a, 17b, 17c, etc.). The images in group "a" show a children's soccer game and two different people holding a card which reads "DAVE - UNDER 11 GIRLS, PAISANO'S SOCERETTES VS. DYNAMICS, SMC FIELD #2, 2PM, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th. PAISANO'S COACH - CHUCK CARELLY, 491-3858. GIVE CARD TO KEN AFTER YOU SHOOT GAME." Image 6a shows a man with a beard and glasses holding the card described above. It appears that the man is Ken Balsley. Image 7a shows seven children playing soccer. The leftmost of the children is in possession of the ball, and is nearly centered in the image frame. Image 8a shows approximately 12 children playing soccer. Visible at the far right of the image is the goal. Image 9a shows approximately eight children playing soccer. The child nearest to the center of the image has both their arms up and out to their sides and is chasing the ball. Image 10a shows approximately 16 children playing soccer. At the center of the image are three players going after the ball. In the far background the goalie is visible holding their hands behind their heads. Image 11a shows approximately ten children playing soccer. Near the center of the image is a female child who is much taller than all of the other players in the shot. Image 24b is nearly completely obscured by a very large black, yellow, and brown discoloration, which also covers portions of images 23b and 25b.
