Description

Nisqually Mexican Fiesta, unknown date. These eight black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Two film rolls were used in the creation of these images, so some of the physical numbers are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from, and each of these groups will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with their physical numbers (17a, 17b, etc.). These images show many people, mostly children, dressed in traditional Mexican attire engaged in a variety of activities. Image 44a shows a child in a poncho and a large sombrero holding a small box with a lid. Image 1a shows the same child from image 44a standing next to a young girl holding a basket on top of her head. The girl is also being handed a small box by a woman at the right-hand side of the image. Image 2a shows a view of a sombrero from above. Image 3a shows many seated people from behind.
