Description

Timberline Wrestling, unknown date. There four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show at least two different individual high school wrestling matches taking place at Timberline High School. Based on a hand-written scoreboard visible in one of the images, the match is between Timberline High School and Shelton High School Image 28 shows one wrestler holding a second wrestler in a hold which puts the second wrestlers head and face into the mat. This image shows the wrestlers from behind. Image 29 shows the wrestlers in the same or a similar hold, but this image shows them from the front. Image 30 shows the two wrestlers with one still holding the other's face into the mat, but here the first wrestler is nearly laying on top of the second. Image 31 shows the wrestlers in a different hold. Three cheerleaders are visible in the background. Image 32 shows the wrestlers in another hold. Two wrestlers still in sweatsuits are seated in the background toward the left of the image. Image 33 shows one wrestler pinning the other. The referee is laying on his stomach next to the wrestlers. Image 34 shows the two wrestlers in another hold. Most of the referee's body, is visible in the top right of the image. Image 35 shows the wrestlers in another hold. The wrestler whose face is visible's hair is flying around. Image 36 shows both wrestlers standing. One wrestler is standing behind the other and has his arms wrapped around his torso. Image 37 shows the two wrestlers on the ground. The referee is holding his hand to his mouth. Image 38 shows the two wrestlers on the ground. Visible in the background is a handwritten scoreboard showing the score to be Shelton 9 and Timberline 6. Image 39 shows one wrestler trying to pin the other. The referee is laying down on his stomach on the mat. The referee's face is visible. Image 40 shows a very similar scene, but the referee's face is not visible. Image 41 shows the wrestlers in a hold. The referee is down on his elbows and knees at the left side of the image. Image 42 shows one of the wrestlers standing and the other on his knees with his arms wrapped around the waist of the first. Image 43 shows one wrestler attempting to pin the other. The referee is laying on his stomach, and his head is obscured by the wrestlers. Image 44 shows both wrestlers standing in a hold. There is a man with a mustache seated in the background toward the left. Image 1 shows the two wrestlers in a hold. One is standing and the other is on his knees with his left arm wrapped around the standing wrestler's knee. Image 2 shows one wrestler standing and nearly stumbling as the other wrestler, on his knees, wraps his right arm around the standing wrestler's knee. Image 3 shows one wrestler picking the other up. The scoreboard in the background shows that the score is Shelton 15, Timberline 18. Printed at intervals along one edge of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
