Description

Fall, 1972. These three black and white film negatives strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Two film rolls were used in the creation of these images, so several of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from, and these groups will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with their physical number (17a, 17b, etc.). These images show a cow in a field, leaves and trees, and a large pile of pumpkins for sale. Image 12a shows a cow standing in a field behind a barbed wire fence. Image 13a shows a close-up view of maple leaves. Image 14a shows sunlight coming through some trees. A structure of some kind and a car are partially visible in the background, and a portion of a wooden fence is visible at the bottom of the image. Image 15a also shows sun filtering down through some trees, and also a horse grazing. Image 16a shows sun filtering down through some trees. A wooden fence is visible in the middle ground, and a structure and a car are visible in the background. Image 17a shows sun filtering through some trees, a corner section of the wooden fence, and a wooden marker in the ground with the number "10" on it. Image 18a shows sun filtering through some trees, a large tree at center, and a large number of ferns covering the ground. Image 19a is nearly identical to image 18a. Image 20a shows maple leaves on thin branches. Many tree trunks are visible in the background. Image 21a shows a wooded area with a cleared field at the center. Two cows are visible grazing in the field. A second image, which seems to be nearly identical to image 21a, is partially overlapping image 21a. Image 14b shows a large number of pumpkins in a pile. The pile fills almost the entire image frame. Image 15b shows the pile of pumpkins again, but visible behind the pumpkins is the outside front area of a grocery store. Two women and one young man are walking out of the store. Image 16b is very similar to image 15b, but two women are visible entering the store. Image 17b shows the pile of pumpkins, but the camera is angled more toward the left. A woman and a small child are visible entering the store. Image 18b shows the pile of pumpkins from further away than in the other images. The store entrance is visible at the left edge of the image. Image 19b shows many trees in the far distance. There are power lines crossing the image at bottom. Printed in alternation along one edge of the strips in group "a" is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM." Printed in alternation along one edge of strip "b" is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK PLUS X PAN FILM."
