Misc. negs, uknown dates. These four black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Four separate film rolls were used in the creation of these images, so several of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description these film strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from, and each of these groups will be assigned a different lower-case letter to go along with their physical numbers (ex: 17a, 17b, 17c, etc.). The images on strip "a" show scenes on a river bank, a street sign in the river, and a boy in a boy scouts uniform. Image 3a shows a riverbank with coniferous trees on the far bank and leafless deciduous trees in the foreground. Image 4a is similar to image 3a, but the photographer has moved forward or zoomed in. There is a sign hanging on the tree at center which appears to read "[unreadable] DUCKS." Image 5a shows the street sign from the corners of SE 8th Ave and Sleater Kinney detached from its pole and laying in a shallow river. Image 6a shows the same subject, but the photographer has either moved closer or zoomed in. Image 7a shows a boy posing in a Boy Scouts uniform with many badges. Image 8a is nearly identical to image 7a. The images from strip "b" show a "Vista Village" sign and several residential buildings. Image 41b shows a sign which reads "Vista Village, an adult CONDOMINIUM community" from a front-on view. Image 42b is nearly identical to image 41b. Image 43b is very similar to the previous two images, but the photographer has moved slightly to their right. Image 1b again shows the same scene, but the photographer has moved further to their right. Image 2b shows several single-storey residential buildings which are likely part of the Vista Village complex. The images on strip "c" show Christmas Island. Images 40c through 43c are all nearly identical. Image 44c shows a man posing with Christmas Island in the background. The images in group "d" show four women and one man posing next to a sign which reads "Future Site of Your Newspaper, Lacey Leader." A home is in the background at the left of the image, and a larger building is at the right.
Vista Vlillage is an adult condominium community located on Carpenter Road in Lacey, Washington. It was originally owned by Panorama City, and later sold to Fred Thunberg.
Image 24d shows the five people posing next to the sign. Images 25d-27d are virtually identical to image 24d.Made/Created
