Construction, unknown date. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. At least three different film rolls were used in the creation of these images, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to which roll they originally came from, and each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with their physical number to help differentiate between images (ex: 17a, 17b, 17c, etc.). The images in group "a" show a tree branch tangled in some power lines and a wooded lake scene. On the power pole to the left of the branch is a sign which reads "ENTERING LACEY." To the right of the branch is another sign which reads "URBAN ARTERIAL CONSTRUCTION, CITY OF LACEY 10%, GAS TAX 90%, UAB URAB ARTERIAL BOARD." This sign is only partially visible in image 39a. Image 41a shows the tree branch hanging from the power lines. The top portions of two mailboxes are visible at the bottom of the frame. Image 41a is oriented vertically. Image 42a shows the same scene as the previous image, but it is oriented horizontally. The entirety of the urban arterial construction sign is visible in this image. Image 43a shows a very similar image to that of 41a, but the mailboxes are not visible. Image 44a is nearly identical to image 43a. Image 1a shows a portion of a lake and surrounding trees. At the center of the images there appears to be a strip of land which is above the water level. Image 2a is very similar to image 1a, but the camera angle has been raised, making more of the sky visible. The images in group "b" show a two-story home with a connected three-car garage on the left side of the home and the Lacey Police Department (the building which now houses the Lacey Museum). Image 2b shows the two-story home with attached garage, Images 3b and 4b are nearly identical to image 2b. Image 5b shows the Lacey Police Department. Two cars parked in front of the building are partially visible. One of these two cars is a Lacey Polie Departmen cruiser. Image 6b shows the same scene as 5b, but most of the right half of the image has been cut off. The images in group "c" show a construction site and feature a crane with "CAPITAL CITY CRANE SERVICE" painted on the crane arm. Image 43c shows the crane pointing toward the left side of the frame. The crane hook is approximately 6' off the ground, and a man in a hard hat is standing very near the hook. Image 44c shows the the crane pointing just to the right of the camera. Image 1c shows the crane lifting a large cylindrical vessel that appears to be made of concrete. The back end of the crane is outside of the image frame. Image 2c shows the crane lifting the vessel over a large hole in the ground. Image 3c is very similar to image 2c. Image 4c is similar to the previous two images, but the photographer has moved several feet to their right.Made/Created
