Wigwam, unknown date. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a strip mall with several stores and other services occupying space within it. Image 21 shows an existing storefront with a large overhanging roof being built over the walkway in front of the store. Visible in the window of this storefront is a sign which reads "COMING SOON LACEY IGA OPEN SOON." Image 22 shows a different portion of the strip mall with several storefronts in the image frame. The furthest from the camera is a store called "Wigwam," then moving closer to the camera is aa Goodwill store, one store with an unreadable sign, one space with a sign which reads in part "Library," and one storefront with a sign which reads "LUDLOW FOUNDATION" and "BINGO." Image 23 shows the Wigwam storefront. Image 24 shows a portion of the front of the Grapevine Restaurant and Lounge. Image 25 shows a second portion of the front of the Grapevine, which is connected to the Wigwam. Image 26 shows the front of the Wigwam, and the picture is taken at a sharp angle from the left of the storefront. Image 27 shows the right-hand end of the Wigwam storefront. There is a sign which reads "BARBER SHOP" visible in the window of the space to the right of the Wigwam storefront. Image 28 shows the front of the barber shop and the front of the Wigwam. This image was captured from the opposite direction as that of the prvious three images.
Wigwam is a chain of discount stores founded in Seattle, Washington. Their first store opened in 1946. The Ludlow Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1976.Made/Created
