Unidentified people, unknown dates. These seventeen black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using as many as fourteen different film rolls, so many of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated several times. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with their images' physical numbers (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help in differentiating between images. The images in group "a" show a man named Roy showing items to a customer at Village Rentals. Image 1a shows a man in a Village Rentals shirt with "Roy" embroidered on it showing another man a tractor. Roy has his left and on the seat of the tractor and he is looking at the customer. Image 2a is similar to image 1a, but Roy is looking toward the tractor and pointing at it with his right hand. Image 3a is very simiilar to image 2a, but here Roy's head is turned even more toward the tractor. mage 4a shows Roy showing the same customer a different piece of equipment. This piece of equipment has many hoses coming off of it, which may be hydraulic lines. Roy is looking toward the piece of equipment and gesturing toward it with his right hand. Image 5a shows Roy looking toward the customer and gesturing with his right hand. Image 6a is virtually identical to image 5a. Image 7a shows Roy smiling and looking downward. Image 8a shows Roy looking toward the customer with his right arm hanging down at his side. Image 9a shows Roy reaching his right arm out to rest on a pressure gauge on top of the piece of equipment. The images in group "b" show a man with glasses in a suit and tie in various seated poses with an open book. Image 2b shows the man seated in an armchair with a floral design on it. He is seated in front of a window which is partially covered by curtains. Coniferous trees are visible in the distance through the window. Image 3b shows the same man in the same chair, but the photographer is slightly toward the man's left. Deciduous trees are visible outside of the window. Image 4b is very similar to image 3b, but the photographer has either moved closer to the man or zoomed in. Image 5b is very similar to image 4b, but the photographer has panned very slightly to their right. Image 6b shows the same man, still posing with the open book, but here he is seated on a couch. Hanging behind the man on the wall are several ukiyo-e paintings. The man is looking toward the camera, which is to the man's right. Image 7b shows the same scene, but the photographer has moved slightly to his left. Image 8b shows the same scene, but the photographer is almost directly in front of the man on the couch. The images in group "c" show a man with a Lacey Lumber Co. pocket protector posing with stacked lumber, a man with a Lacey Fire Department badge and a nametag which reads "STEPHEN NEFF," a large building with a sign which reads "DIAMOND INTERNATIONAL, LUMBER BUILDING MATERIALS," and a large building with play equipment next to it. Image 21c shows the man with the Lacey Lumber Co. pocket protector standing next to a stack of lumber. His right hand is resting on top of the stack, and his head and body are oriented toward the left side of the image frame. image 22c is virtually identical to image 21c. Image 23c is very similar to the previous two images, but the man has turned his head more toward the camera. Image 24c is virtually identical to image 23c. Image 25c shows a portrait of a man in glasses wearing a Lacey Fire Department badge. He is also wearing a nametag which reads "STEPHEN NEFF." He has a slight smile on his face. Image 26c is very similar to the previous image, but Mr. Neff has a large smile on his face. Image 27c is nearly idnetical to image 25c. Image 28c is similar to image 26c, but the man has a slightly smaller smile on his face. Image 29c shows the Diamond International building. Image 30c shows the lrge building with play equipment next to it. Based on the architecture of the building and the play equipment, it may be a school. The images in group "d" show three women and a man in a hair salon. Images 31d through 34d are nearly identical. The images in group "e" shows a man in a short-sleeved shirt and a man with long hair working on the front driver's side wheel assembly and/or brakes of a car up on a lift in an auto shop. Image 37e shows the man in the short-sleeved shirt looking toward the wheel asseembly as he works on it. The image is oriented vertically. Image 38e is very similar to the previous image, but it is oriented horizontally. Image 39e shows the man working on the wheel assembly, but he is looking down at to his right. Image 40e shows the man in the short-sleeved shirt working on the wheel. He is looking toward the camera. Image 41e shows the man with long hair kneeling down and holding the wheel assemby while the other man works on it. This image roughly shows both men in profile. Image 42e shows a similar scene to that in the previous image, but the photographer has moved to their right and slightly behind the man with long hair. The man in the short-sleeved shirt is looking toward the wheel assembly. Image 43e is similar to the previous image, but the man in the short-sleeved shirt is looking toward the camera. The images in group "f" show a woman seated at a desk behind what appears to be a typewriter. Image 38f shows the woman not smiling and looking downward and slightly toward the left. Image 39f shows the woman looking downward and toward the left, but here she is smiling. Image 40f is similar to image 39f, but the woman has a larger smile on her face. Image 41f shows the woman looking at the camera and smiling. Image 42f shows the woman again looking downward and smiling. Image 43f shows the woman looking at the camera and smiling only very slightly. The images in group "g" show nine young girls, six of whom are wearing Girl Scout uniforms, posing for a picture next to a hole in the ground with a shovel in it. Images 34g through 38g are nearly identical. The images in group "h" show a man with "Dick" embroidered on his shirt standing behind a counter with five fire extinguishers and one first aid kit on it. Images 10h-13h are all virtually identical. The images in group "i" show a man posing with a large numbers of coins in two display boxes, one round and one shaped like the United States. He is behind a counter with coins on display inside. There is an award on the wall with the name "Robert E. Pearson" on it, but it is not clear if this man is Robert E. Pearson. Image 18i shows the man with a smile on his face and his head tilted to his left slightly. Image 19i shows the man with puckered lips. Image 20i shows the man looking straight-on and smiling. Image 21i shows the man smiling with his head tilted downward slightly. The images in group "j" show one woman and two men posing for a photo. One of the men has a goatee, the other man has a mustache and glasses. The three people are in a workroom or office next to a large piece of unknown equipment. Images 34j-37j are all nearly identical. The images in group "k" show children dressed up in costumes and at play. Image 42k show a child in a sombrero. Image 43k shows a child holding a flag which reads "ITALY" on it. The child is wearing a cap and a neckerchief. Image 44k shows a child in a fedora holding a large ball. Image 45k shows a a young girl going down a small slide. The images in group "l" show ten adults posing for a photo Visible in the bottom left corner is a box which reads "data processing forms." Images 1l through 3l are all virtually identical. The image in group "m" show a man standing next to a van. Printed on the van is "Culpepper Tobacco Co."
Printed at intervals along one edge of all of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."Made/Created
