Description

Boxing, 1978. This single black and white film negative strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a man (Pinklon Thomas) in boxing attire celebrating in the ring, presumably after winning a fight. The event took place in Saint Martin's Marcus Pavilion. Image 13 shows two men reaching out and touching Mr. Thomas. One of the men touching Mr. Thomas is outside of the ropes and reaching in. Mr. Thomas is raising both hands in the air. Image 14 shows Mr. Thomas with his right fist in the air. There is a man behind Mr. Thomas reaching out to touch him. Image 15 shows Mr. Thomas hugging someone in the ring. Image 16 shows four men in the ring and one standing on the edge of the ring outside of the ropes. Image 17 shows three men in the ring and at least one standing on the edge of the ring outside of the ropes. This boxing match took place on October 31, 1978. Pinklon Thomas defeated Mustafa El Amin. Printed at intervals along one edge of this film negative strip is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
