Basketball N. Thurston vs. Olympia (note that this sleeve also holds images of games between teams other than North Thurston and Olympia), unknown dates. These twelves black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using four different film rolls, so some of the images' physical numbers are repeated one or more times. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the images' physical numbers (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a boys' high school basketball game between the North Thurston Rams and the Olympia Bears. Image 30a shows player 30 for Olympia jumping in the air with the ball held up in oth hands. Player 30 for North Thurston is standing immediately behind him, and no other players are visible in the shot. Image 31a shows player 30 for Olympia coming down with a rebound. A North Thurston player with a jersey number ending in 2 and a wristband on both wrists is standing on the right side of the image. Image 32a shows several players from each team under the hoop. The scoreboard shows that there is 2:26 left in the period. Image 33a shows several players, including player 42 from North Thurston and 10 from Olympia scrabbling for the ball. Player 14 from Olympia is at the center of the image facing away from the camera. Image 34a shows two players having just fallen to the floor. The referee is at the right-hand side of the image pointing both thumbs up in the air. Image 35a shows two players from North Thurston and one player from Olympia jumping up for the ball. Player 40 for Olympia is in the center foreground facing away from the camera. Image 36a shows two cheerleaders speaking to eachother. Image 37a shows player 30 for Olympia jumping with the ball held in both hands. Player 50 for thr Rams is immediately in front of him and holding both arms up and bent at the elbow. Image 38a shows player 34 from Olympia holding the ball above his head with both hands and trying to get by a North Thurston player with a jersey number ending in 2. Player 42 for Olympia is immediately to the right of them. Image 39a shows a player for Olympia bent over ath the waist and holding the ball at waist level with both hands. The scoreboard shows that there is 5:40 left in the second period. Image 40a shows a player for North Thurston holding the ball between his legs. Player 20 for Olympia is reaching out and touching the ball. Player 30 for Olympis is at the left side of the foreground. Image 41a shows player 42 for Olympia holding the ball in his right arm while elbowing a North Thurston player in the chest. The North Thurston player appears to be hitting player 42 for Olympia in the face. Image 42a shows player 50 for North Thurston under the basket and reaching up with both arms toward the ball, wich is very near to or touching the rim. The scoreboard shows that there is 3:02 left in the second period. Image 43a shows player 12 for Nort Thurston laying on te floor. A second player is also laying on the floor, but only his legs are visible. The scoreboard shows that the second period is over. Image 44a shows player 42 for Olympia holding the ball above his head with both hands. The scoreboard shows that there is 7:44 left in the fourth period. Image 1a shows player 12 from North Thurston and player 40 for Olympia both jumping up and touching the ball with one hand. Image 2a is too underexposed to make anything out. Image 3a shows a North Thurston player with a jersey number ending in 2 coming down with a rebound. The scoreboard shows that there is 5:43 left in the fourth period. Player 23 for Chehalis is spreading both arms out to his sides. Image 7b shows the ceiling of the gym. No players are in the shot. Image 8b shows a player for Chehalis with a jersey number starting with 2 crouching down to pick up a loose ball. Player 34 for the Blazers is roughly in the center of the image. Image 9b shows player 30 for Timberline holding the ball slightly above his head with only his left hand. The referee is visible in the right-hand background. The referee is at the left-hand side of the image, and number 24 for Timberline is running away from the camera. Image 11b shows player 41 for Chehalis bending over and presumably holding the ball. Player 23 for Chehalis is at the right-hand side of the image facing away from the camera. Image 12b shows the ball far up in the air and player 24 for the Blazers jumping up in the air while looking toward the camera and yelling. Player 34 for the Blazers is the furthest player toward the right. Image 13b shows several players running across the court, but it is too underexposed to make out anything else. Image 14b shows player 43 for Chehalis running with the ball in his hands while hunched over. Player 34 for Tmberline is the furthest player toward the left. Image 15b shows player 34 for Timberline at the center of the image facing away from the camera. The ball is on the ground immediately to his left. Image 16b is too underexposed to make out. Image 17b shows a Timberline player having just released a jumpshot. Player 35 for Chehalis is partially visible in the bottom left corner of the image. Image 18b is too underexposed to make anything out. Image 19b shows player 24 for Timberline bending over and holding the ball at knee level with both hands. It appears that he is about to throw the ball underhand to someone to the left of the photographer. Image 20b shows player 30 for the Blazers holding the ball with both hands at waist level. The referee is at the left-hand side of the image. The images in group "c" show a boys' high school basketball game betweeen the Timberline Blazers and the Tumwater T-Birds. Image 22c shows a Timberline player with a jersey number beginning with 2 walking off the court with a man, presumably a coach. Image 23c shows player 11 for Tumwater reaching down for a ball on the floor. Players 34 and 22 for Timberline are to the right of him. Image 24c shows player 22 for Timberline holding the ball with both hands above his head. Player 23 for Tumwater is crouched in front of him and reaching for the ball with his right hand. The referee is visible in the background to the left of player 22. Image 25c shows a player for Timberline falling toward the floor and reaching out with his left hand for the ball. A Tumwater player with a jersey number starting with 5 is crouching and reaching for the ball. Image 26c shows a Blazers player with a jersey number ending in 2 about to release a jumpshot. Another player is only partially visible at the right-hand edge of the image, with only one arm, one leg, and half of their head in the image frame. Image 4d shows a player for North Thurston preparing to shoot a freethrow. No other players are visible in the image. Image 13d shows the North Thurston team in a huddle with a coach. Player 34 is at the center of the image facing away from the camera. Image 14d shows a player for the unknown team having just attempted a shot and player 12 for North Thurston reaching up toward the ball. A referee and player 23 for the unknown team are at the right-hand side of the image. Image 25d shows two players on the floor with the ball next to them. To the right of the players on the floor are six other players and two referees. Image 26d shows player 22 for the unknown team having just released a shot. The scoreboard shows that there are 22 second left in the period. Image 27d shows the North Thurston team is a huddle. Player 12 is wiping her face as she walks toward the huddle. Image 28d shows the scoreboard showing the score to be home 36, guest 28. Image 29d shows the legs of several people walking on the basketball court. These people are wearing slacks, and one pair is plaid.
