Various people at work, unknown dates. These nine film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. Each of these film negative strips were created using a different film roll, so some of the physical numbers on the strips appear more than once. For the purposes of this description, each strip will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images on strip "a" show two men seated at a table with a large piece of electronic equipment on it. One man is wearing a vest, and the other man is wearing a striped sweater. Sitting on top of the piece of equipment is one sign with a logo of a globe and the letters "ARS" underneath the globe. A second smaller sign under the first reads "OLYMPIA AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY." These images were captured in a large room with large floor-to-ceiling windows. Image 40a shows the two men seated at the table. The man in the striped sweater is reaching toward the piece of electronic equipment. The man in the vest is partially visible on the far side of the man in the striped sweater. Image 41a was taken from behind the men and off to the right. The man in the vest is only partially inside the image frame at the left-hand edge. Image 42a was taken from the left of the man in the vest. The man in the vest is reaching out toward the piece of electronic equipment and appears to be saying something to the man in the striped sweater. A nametag is visible on the man's striped sweater which reads "BOB CAMPBELL, WA7ROJ, OLYMPIA, WA." Image 43a shows the man in the vest looking toward the camera and smiling. The man in the striped sweater is almost completely obscured behind the man in the vest. Image 44a shows the man in the vest looking down at a notepad and holding a pen in his right hand. The man in the striped sweater is again almost completely obscured behind the man in the vest. The images on strip "b" show a man in a suit and tie standing next to the driver's side of a car with the driver's side door open. He is the lot of a Volkswagen car dealersip. Image 24b shows the man posing next to the car. Only the V, the O and part of the L in the Volswagen sign in the windows of the dealership are visible. Image 25b agains shows the man posing next to the car. One of the dar's dual headlights are visible, as are the V,O,L,K,S,W,A and G in the Volkswagen sign on the dealership windows. Image 26b is very similar to the previous image, but the photographer has panned very slightly to their right, making a portion of the E in Wolkswagen visible in the dealership window. Image 27b shows the same scene as the previous images, but the photographer has moved further away from the car. Both of the man's shoes are visible below the open car door. Image 29b is nearly identical to image 28b. The images on strip "c" show two men in chef's hats preparing food in a home kitchen. One of the men is wearing an apron with a government building on it, and the other is wearing an apron with an illustration of a bowl on it. Image 17c shows the man in te apron with the government building on it pouring something from a frying pan into a round pan. Image 18c shows the man in the government building apron holding a frying pan over the stovetop. Image 19c shows the man in the goverment building apron mixing something in a bowl. Image 20c shows both men looking toward the camera and smiling. The man in the government building apron's wristwatch face is oriented roughly toward the camera. Image 21c is nearly identical to image 20c, but the man in the government building apron's hand is turned so its face is oriented toward the right-hand side of the image. The images on strip "d" show a man standing behind a counter and displaying several necklaces and pendants on stands. He appears to be in a jewelry store. All of the images on this strips (30d-34d) are nearly identical. The images in group "e" show two men standing behind a counter displaying various jewelry pieces. The counter also holds jeweler's tools. The man on the left has a mustache, and the man on the right (who has no mustache) is the same man shown on strip "c." All of the images on this strip (6d-8d) are nearly identical. The images on strip "f" show three women posing with a display of quilts, embroidered images and other items. Two of the women are standing, and one is kneeling down at the left-hand side of the display. All of the images on this strip (27f-30f) are nearly identical. The images on strip "g" show one woman and one man in police uniforms seated in the two front seats on an automobile. The woman is in the driver's seat, and the man is in the passenger's seat. Both are wearing a pin which reads "LPD" on the right-hand side of their shirt collars, presumably standing for "Lacey Police Department." Image 32g shows both the man and the woman looking toward the camera. Image 33g shows both the man and woman looking down at something that is between them on the seat of the car. The man's right hand is fully visible. Image 34g is very similar to the previous image, but the man's hand is partially obscured behind the car door. The images in group "h" show an early automobile with the engine removed. The automobile is parked in what appears to be the garage of a fire department. The automobile may be an early example of a fire truck. Image 20h shows the automobile from the front and off to the right slightly. A portion of the back end of a fire truck is visible at the left-hand side of the image. Image 21h shows the automobile from behind. There is a number 3 visible at the head of the truck's bed. Image 22h shows the "cockpit" section of the automobile, including the steering wheel, pedals, and a portion of the seat. Image 23h shows wat appears to be a workshop area with a variety of items including piping and plywood strewn about. Slightly above and to the left of the image center is a lantern which reads "Amercan La France Fire Engine Co., Inc." and "LACEY." The images on strip "i" show a man in a U.S. Army uniform and a child inside what appears to be the cockpit of a helicopter. There is a name badge on the man's uniform, and the visible portion of it reads "FOGAR" (the full name may be Fogarty).Image 33i shows the man in the army uniform looking upward. The child is occupying much of the left-hand side of the image. Image 34i shows the man in the army uniform looking toward his right.
