Rams vs. Climbers basketball, 1973. These seven black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two different film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these film negative strips will be grouped according to which film roll they originally came from. Each of the two groups will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show a boys' high school basketball game between the North Thurston Rams and the Shelton Highclimbers. Image 2a shows a very blurry shot of what appears to be cheerleaders standing in front of the crowd. Image 3a shows a blurred shot of someone entering a gymnasium through a set of double doors. Image 4a shows Rams player 34 preparing to take a shot or pass the ball. Player 32 for the Highclimbers is guarding him. Image 5a shows a Rams player with glasses holding the ball out in front of him and downward slightly. Player 32 for the Highclimbers is standing behind him. Image 6a shows player 32 for the Rams holding the ball up above his head and to his left slightly. Player 32 for the Highclimbers is at the center of the image facing away from the camera. Image 7a shows a Shelton player either about to release a jump shot or getting a rebound. Player 40 for Shelton is the leftmost visible player in the image. Image 8a shows a blurry shot of player 12 for the Rams about to release a jumpshot. Image 9a shows player 32 for Shelton at the center of the image facing away from the camera and presumably guarding against a player who is behind him in the image. Player 40 for Shelton is partially visible at the left-hand edge of the image. Image 10a shows a blurred shot of a Rams player with a jersey number ending in 2 preparing to take a shot. Image 11a shows Rams player 22 going for a lay-up. Player 20 for Shelton is trying to defend against the shot. Image 12a shows a player for North Thurston having just released a jump shot. Player 40 for Shelton reached out to block the shot, but failed. Image 13a is very similar to the previous shot, but player 40 for Shelton appears to be succeeding in blocking the shot. Image 14a shows a Rams player with the ball. The scoreboard is visible in the upper right corner of the image, and it shows that there is 1:21 left in the third period. Image 15a shows a Rams player with glasses standing with his right arm out in front of him. Player 32 for Shelton is standing behind him. Image 16a shows several players from both teams looking upward toward the basket. Two of the players are jumping. The ball is just barely visible near the hoop. Image 17a shows player 34 for the Rams about to release a jump shot. A shelton player with a jersey number ending in 4 is jumping up and preparing to block the shot. Image 18a shows several players from both teams looking up toward the hoop. Player 44 for the Rams is the right-most player visible in the image frame, and his body is oriented away from the camera. Image 19a shows two Shelton players jumping up next to a Rams player. The Rams player is making a one-handed pass past the player jumping in front of him. Image 20a shows a Rams player crouched down and holding onto the ball with both hands. Player 10 for Shelton is guarding him. Image 21a shows player 20 for Shelton and a North Thurston player behind him jumping up for a ball. Player 44 for North Thurston is facing away from the camera. The images in group "b" show the same basketball game as in group "a." Image 7b shows a blurry shot of a referee who appears to be sliding across the basketball court. Image 8b shows players from both teams in a jumble under the basket. Players 44 from each team are both at the center of the image facing away from the camera. Image 9b shows player 20 for Shelton in the image foreground facing away from the camera. Image 10b shows player 34 for North Thurston about to take a jump shot. Player 32 from Shelton is about to jump up to try and block the shot. Image 11b shows player 34 for North Thurston facing away from the camera and jumping in the air with his right arm up. His left leg is splayed out to the side. Image 12b shows a Rams player with a jersey number beginning with 5 either taking a shot or getting a rebound. Player 32 for Shelton is the player nearest to the camera. Image 13b shows player 44 for Shelton and a North Thurston player going after a jump ball. A referee is at the right-hand side of the image and he is leaning toward his left. Image 14b shows player 14 for the Rams holding the ball with both hands as he runs. A Shelton player is lunging out in front of him in the direction of the camera. Image 15b shows player 22 for the Rams dribbling while Shelton's number 10 is guarding him. Player 44 for the Rams is in the background. Image 16b shows a blurry image of several players from both teams under the basket. Player 44 for Shelton is the player furthest toward the left, and player 44 for the Rams is the furthest toward the right. Both of the players are facing away from the camera. Image 17b shows player 52 for the Rams holding the ball above his head with both hands and facing toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 18b shows a Rams player with a jersey number beginning with 2 having just released a jump shot. Player 52 for the Rams is the player furthest toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 19b shows player 32 for Shelton either going for a layup or a rebound. Player 52 for the Rams is the player furthest toward the right-hand side of this image.
