High School Basketball, 1973. These six black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two different film rolls, but none of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. The images from the first roll, two images in total, show a boys' high school basketball game between the Timberline Blazers and an unknown team. Image 2 shows a player for Timberline having just released a jumpshot. The ball is visible approximately four feet above the head of the shooting player. Player 21 for the unknown team is the at the right-hand side of the image. An American flag mounted on the wall is immediately behind the shooter. Image 3 shows player 44 for the Blazers about to release a shot while player 33 for the unknown team attempts to guard him. Hanging on the wall above the spectators is a banner which reads "Sock It" and "Pow." The remaining images in this series show a boys' high school basketball game between the North Thurston Rams and the Olympia Bears. Image 15 shows player 52 for the Rams having released a free throw. The ball is visible at the top edge of the image. Several players' arms are visible at the right-hand edge of the image. Image 16 shows a player for North Thurston running with the ball held with both hands. Player 42 for the Bears is standing in the ball carrier's path. Image 17 shows a player for North Thurston in the foreground preparing to take a shot. Player 12 for the Bears is the player second-nearest to the camera. Image 18 shows player 32 for North Thurston facing away from the camera and holding both arms up in the air. Player 12 for the Bears is partially visible in the bottom-left corner of the image. Image 19 shows player 44 for North Thurston having just released a jump shot. An Olympia player with a jersey number ending in 4 is reaching up with his left arm to try to block the shot. Image 20 shows several players looking up at the ball, which is in the air near the hoop. Player 52 for the Bears is nearest the camera, and he is facing away from the camera. Image 21 shows player 44 for North Thurston stepping onto or very near to the out-of-bounds line under the basket. Player 52 for the Bears is partially visible at the right-hand edge of the image. Image 22 shows several players from each team looking toward the ball, which is in the air. Player 32 for North Thurston and player 50 for Olympia are the two players nearest the camera, and both are facing away from the camera. Image 23 shows a North Thurston player with a jersey number which appears to be 12 or 13 running down the court. The ball appears to be behind his back. Player 32 for North Thurston is to the right of the player with the ball. Image 24 shows player 32 for North Thurston dribbling the ball in the image foreground. Image 25 shows a North Thurston player hunched down at the far end of the court and players from both teams looking toward him. Players 34 from both teams are standing next to eachother to the right of the center of the image. Image 26 shows player 32 (or perhaps 22) for North Thurston running with the ball held above his head. Player 34 for North Thurston is at the center of the image facing toward the camera. Player 34 for the Bears is to his right. Image 27 shows several players from each team looking toward the ball, which is near the left-hand edge of the image. Player 50 for the Bears is the player closest to the camera, and he is facing away from the camera. Image 28 shows player 32 for North Thurston having just released a jump shot. Player 50 for the Bears is reaching a hand out to block the shot, but the ball is already past his hand. Image 29 shows North Thurston's player 22 holding the ball with number 12 for the Bears standing behind him. Player 30 for the Bears is facing away from the camera at the right-hand side of the image. Image 30 shows player 12 for North Thurston dribbling down the court. Player 20 for the Bears is alongside him. The scoreboard is visible in the background and it shows that the second period has just ended. Image 31 shows a young boy in a horizontally-striped shirt shooting a free throw. A person's right-hand side of their body is visible at the left-hand edge of the image. Image 32 shows a young boy in a baseball-style t-shirt having released a free throw. The same person seen in image 31 is partially visible at the left-hand edge of the image, but he has stepped more into the image frame. Image 33 shows players from each team standing and looking toward the right-hand side of the image. Player 52 for North Thurston is at the center of the image, a referee is at the left-hand edge of the image, and a player with a jersey number beginning with 5 is at the right-hand edge of the image. Image 34 shows two players from each team standing near the center of the image. Player 12 for North Thurston is facing away from the camera in the right-hand foreground of the image. Image 35 shows player 22 for North Thurston going for a lay-up. Player 42 for the Bears is to the right of the player with the ball. Image 36 shows player 34 for the Rams either just having taken a shot or reaching up for a rebound. Player 44 for North Thurston and players 34 and 50 for Olympia are the players nearest the camera. All three are facing away from the camera. Image 37 shows player 22 for the Rams having just released a jump shot.Player 50 for the Bears is the player closest to the camera. He is in the left-hand foreground of the image. Image 38 shows a Bears player at the center of the image reaching his right arm out and somewhat backward. The ball is visible in the air near the left-hand edge of the image. Player 12 for the Bears is at the left-hand edge of the image facing away from the camera. Image 39 shows a North Thurston player jumping up to take a jump shot. The shooter is almost completely obscured by player 52 for the Bears, who is jumping up to block the shot. Players 32 and 40 for the Bears are near the right-hand edge of the image.
