Description

Thurston County veterans, 1973. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show portrait-style photos of eight different men taken in front of a wood-paneled wall. Image 39 shows a man (Wayne Geiger) in a button-up work shirt with two chest pockets. He is wearing a t-shirt underneath the work shirt, and his hair is combed back. The Mr. Geiger's head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 40 is similar to the previous image, but Mr. Geiger's head and body are turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 41 shows a man (Jerry Wanager) with a mustache and combed-back hair wearing a button-up shirt with a single breast pocket. He is wearing a t-shirt underneath his button-up shirt. The Mr. Wanager's head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 42 is similar to the previous image, but the Mr. Wanager's head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 43 shows a man (Steve Check) wearing a cardigan over a patterned, button-up shirt. His head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 44 is very similar to the previous image, but Mr. Check's head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 1 shows a man (Jerry Legg) with a long mustache and wavy hair wearing a button-up shirt with two breast pockets. His head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 2 is similar to the previous image, but Mr. Legg's head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. He is smiling and/or laughing. Image 3 shows a man (Tery Pratt) with a mustache in a paisley-patterned, button-up shirt. His head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 4 is similar to the previous image, but Mr. Pratt's head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Mr. Pratt is smiling and/or laughing. Image 5 shows a man (George Fatheree) in glasses with two pen-like objects attached to his shirt at the center of the chest. Mr. Fatheree's head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Mr. Fatheree is smiling, but not showing any teeth. Image 6 is very similar to the previous image, but Mr. Fatheree's head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 7 shows a man with a goatee wearing an unbuttoned, short-sleeved shirt over a t-shirt. The man's head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 8 is similar to the previous image, but the man's head is turned toward the right-hand side of the image. Image 9 shows a man (Chris Lane) in a short-sleeved, button-up shirt and a striped tie. His head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image. Image 10 is very similar to the previous image, but Mr. Lane's head is turned slightly toward the right-hand side of the image. There is a watch visible on the his left wrist. These images were created for inclusion with an article in the Lacey Leader newspaper concerning problems encountered by veterans in finding work.
