Description

Dixy's Ball (and after), 1977. These two black and white negative film strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. The "Dixy" referenced in this sleeve's title is former Washington State governor, Dixy Lee Ray. Image 12 shows a somewhat blurry image of an unknown man looking down. He is wearing a collared shirt underneath a jacket. The image is oriented horizontally. Image 13 is very similar to the previous image. It is much clearer than the previous image. Image 14 shows the inside of the Marcus Pavilion on the campus of Saint Martin's University. In the far right corner there are four people carrying in a large object. The upper floor is full of folding chairs. The back of the lower floor appears to be covered in trees with models of buildings in front of them. Image 15 shows one end of the Pavilion. There is a stack of six tree slices stacked next to a cardboard box full of plants. There is another box of plants on the far left side of the image. Behind the boxes appears to be a tarp covered with plants and tree branches. One edge of each film strip has "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM" printed on it.
